Exploring the Relationship between Shari’ah Supervisory Boards and the Board of Directors in Islamic Financial Institutions in Saudi Arabia

The supervisor gave me annotated feedback on my work in order number 81864531 and discussed the following:
1. Notwithstanding that it was improved on the previous version, it still needs development as some of the perspectives on power were not completely explained (detailed comments on annotations).
2. The review needs to be more critical (e.g. page 7 on the writings of Rawls) and more synthetic (how do these different conceptualisations link, where do they differ).
3. There is some confusion over what are definitions of power, conceptualisations of power and analysis of power. These are of course interlinked within the different perspectives but the difference between these ideas is not always clear.
4. the review starts off taking a historical narrative but that gets lost towards the middle and the end.
5. there is too much use of secondary sources to describe classical works – we recommend strongly to go to the originals rather than using second-hand citations.
6. the implications for the thesis (in the summary) are not drawn out enough – sources of power, power relationships and their analysis, exercise of power. We asked that for the moment he concentrates on point 6 as student needs to incorporate that in the revised progression document. Action for the next meeting is to write that section 6 and incorporate into progression form.
