For this assignment, you will create a written portrait of a place while focusing on tone and word choice.
Pick a location that is rich with sensory qualities—sights, sounds, smells, and maybe even touch, taste, and emotions. Spend several minutes just observing the place.
Capture sensory notes: Write down two or three details that correspond to each sense. This could be made in a list form, or perhaps a freewrite.
Write a description of the scene or location, using each of the senses. Each sense should be used at least once. Try being creative with your tone and language to make your writing appealing to readers. You might pretend you are writing your favorite kind of novel.
Imaging you are in a park where you hear the sound of bird, tree, or any other sounds.
