Question 1:
Explain how the accounts of sex workers interviewed by Chin are linked to the three main schools of analysis on neoliberalism (as discussed by Bernstein https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7kL4p3llmHk). How do the experiences of some of these sex workers illustrate that there is a “gendered and classed dimension to neoliberal globalization” (Chin, p. 5)?
Question 2:
Compare Malaysian, migrant Chinese, Iranian and Nigerian sex workers in Kuala Lumpur in terms of how they make sense of the agency and structural constraints accompanying their work.
Question 3:
Explore how the sex work industry, female mamees, customers and male syndicate workers reinforce hegemonic ideas around gender and race. How do women who are sex workers and pro-rights sex work advocates challenge these ideas?
