The Internet of Things (IOT)

The Internet of Things (IOT) is a network of physical devices that collect and exchange data over the internet. However, IOT devices are vulnerable to hacking and cyber-attacks due to weak security features. Concerns over the safety of IOT devices have, ineluctably, opened the door to both targeted and widespread attacks for some time now. The vast majority of these attacks originate from quite fundamental security weaknesses, such as reusing the same password across many services. Incorrect access control, Overly large attack surface, Outdated software, Application vulnerabilities, Lack of Trusted Execution Environment. However, one of the major challenges facing the IOT is security, particularly the use of default passwords in IOT devices, such as “CCTV” which can be easily guessed by attackers. This can lead to theft of personal information, financial loss, and even physical harm. Additionally, data generated by IOT devices can be misused, violating privacy and personal rights. A security breach in one device can potentially compromise the security of an entire network, causing widespread damage.
