Explore different technological applications. Researchers could focus on generating new initiatives and assessing existing ones to engage HSO employees and clients in collabora- tions utilizing data to improve services. Studies could examine different innovative applica- tions of technology, such as design thinking, big data–driven models, and harnessing social media for social change. Research initiatives would focus on, for example, studying the potential of online communities to improve the well-being of clients and promote specific social policies. They could also examine the risks involved with using social media. Research could pose questions such as: How to utilize social networking platforms to raise awareness of social issues?; How to recruit volunteers through social networking sites to promote specific policies?; and, How to recruit business collaborators and volunteers with advanced technological skills to deliver social work services to populations that would otherwise not have access to these services? These research initiatives could test new technologies to deliver services to clients, to promote social policies, to improve the lives of community residents, and to create a sense of community.
