Purpose This literature review will assist you to locate and synthesize articles on support systems for you as graduate nurses. Research Topic This narrative literature review examines the subject of support strategies which enhance the well-being, self-care and resilience of the new graduate registered nurse. Additional Information You will be expected to show a stage six level of academic writing which is succinct, grammatically correct, and carefully edited with no referencing errors. As this assessment piece is heavily weighted as 60% of the unit grade, to reduce stress and ensure the piece is completed over the six week period before you undertake your clinical placement there are six possible smaller submissions; with the final submission date due in week 7. Each of the different sections are worth 10% of the grade. The narrative literature review is made up of the distinct and separate sections. Each small section can be submitted each week commencing in week 2. Submit the smaller sections each week in Cadmus which when added together form the various sections of the literature review. You should review the literature review in its entirety before the final closing of submissions on the 5th September. Introduction Write approx 250 words which introduces the topic. The introduction does not need a heading. Your introduction should give an outline of • why you are writing a review, and why the topic is important • the scope of the review — what aspects of the topic will be discussed Background Write approx 500 words which discusses the background to the problem/ the topic. Support your discussion with the literature. Search Strategy Write approx 200 words • Access the Library Database and locate relevant literature literature (books, journal articles, etc.) • Critically read and make notes on each source. For each source you should: • Locate the main arguments • Evaluate the logic of the source • Decide on its relevance to the research topic You need to end with 6-10 articles to be reviewed. If you need to widen your inclusion/ exclusion criteria or limiters if the number is less than 6. Or add other limiters if it is too many. Explain how you ended with the articles you did (search strategy). Results section Write approx 600 words Discussion section Write approx 600 words Conclusion Write approx 250 words Recommendations Write approx 100 words
