Research Proposal Part I
Research Proposal Part I will include the following elements (Problem Statement & Rationale, Research Questions, Variables, Conceptual Model, Annotated Bibliography).
1) Problem Statement & Rationale: A clear statement of your proposed topic that you will be researching; What is the problem or objective of the topic you are proposing to examine? Why did you choose this topic? Why is this topic important to the discipline of Criminal Justice?
2) Research Questions: Two questions that will contain an independent and dependent variable.
EXAMPLE: RQ #1: Does coming from a low socio-economic environment contribute to recidivism?
RQ #2: Are certain ethnic groups more at risk for recidivism?
3) Variables & Conceptual Model: Identify your independent and dependent variables and prepare a model that shows the relationship.
4)Annotated Bibliography: Begin to search for academic literature that has examined a similar topic.

The Research Proposal Part I should contain a title page, be typed and double-spaced (12 pt font), in
APA 7th ed. Style.
The template for Part I is found in another file. Scholarly references are needed.
