Develop a Proposal for Recruiting, Selecting and Inducting New Staff for your Organisation
You are required to develop a proposal for recruitment and induction strategy to support the growth and development of your business over the next few years.
To guide you through developing and writing your proposal, there are a series of 8 tasks listed below:
Task 1:
Analyse your organisation’s business/strategic plan to identify future staffing and recruitment needs.
This is a summary of the Human Resources implications of your organisation’s strategic goals.
- How do you plan on identifying future HR needs to support the growth of your organisation?
- Include an organisational chart of growth for projected growth/future expansion
- Develop job descriptions for each position listed on the organisational chart
- Discuss where you will access information on awards and conditions of employment
Task 2:
Develop procedures/strategies/plans for how you will recruit, select and induct new staff into your organisation
Describe the strategy to address each of the three stages in recruiting staff:
- recruitment strategies
- selection methods and resources
- an induction plan.
The proposal should also contain:
- timeline, budget and resources required (an action plan)
- justification of your overall plan against the objectives for your business
- your decision on what area you may outsource any services, explaining the strategic reasons for your decision.
Task 3:
Manage legislative aspects of recruitment, selection and induction
- Establish procedures for advertising, giving feedback to candidates and making job offers
- How will you ensure adequate systems are in place to ensure legal compliance
- A recruitment process flowchart that you would include in the procedures document
- Describe how you will communicate and train future staff
- Describe a process you will put in place for monitoring legislation to ensure your organisation’s ongoing legal compliance.
Task 4:
Manage the selection process
- What selection strategies will you use?
- Develop a list of questions to be used as part of the job interview.
- Do you have a policy and procedure for contacting an applicant’s referees?
- Include any aptitude, psychometric and work tests you may implement as part of the selection.
- Will you use Assessment Centres?
- Be sure to consider a range of methods, tools and resources
Task 5:
Monitor the job offers
- Ensure EEO and anti-discrimination are considered
- Is there a process for informing successful and unsuccessful applicants?
- What information will be provided to the new employee?
Task 6:
Manage the induction program
- Discuss the outline and give a brief overview of the content.
- Write a checklist for the induction session. Will new recruits be provided with documentation and what types of information will be given to them?
- What types of training and support are available for people involved in delivering the induction program to new recruits?
- Are intended outcomes clearly stated?
- Do induction methods, tools and schedules support the outcomes?
- Ensure any proposed induction strategies align to the business goals
Task 7:
Review the induction program
- What strategies will you use to review and evaluate the induction program you have implemented for new employees?
- What is the process for refining any existing induction policies and procedures?
Task 8:
Manage the performance of new employees
- In this task you need to develop a process for managing the performance of probationary employees.
- How will you ensure feedback is given to the new employee?
