Primary Source Analysis

Throughout this course, students will critically examine primary and secondary sources in context with module themes and broader course themes.
Students will choose two sources that are assigned reading or from the supplemental module resources and compare and contrast the validity of each source. For
this task, students will write a source analysis paper that includes a one-page summary and analysis of each source.
Students should consider:
 Context: What are the key issues in this document? Consider the origin of the source. Who is the author? Why and when was it written and for what
audience? In what way might this source be biased? What evidence in this document helps identify why it was written and what its purpose was?
 Summary: What main points does the primary source convey?
 Course Concepts and Topics: How does the content of this document relate to the course concepts and topics? What questions might be unanswered by
this document?
