Medical: Condition Treatment for Down Syndrome

Papers should include the following sections: I. Health Condition Information a. Definition and description of the condition (include any additional names the condition is known as and any subtypes of the condition) b. Signs and symptoms c. Etiology of the condition d. Incidence and prevalence II. Occupational Performance a. List a minimum of 3 areas of occupational performance that would be impaired for someone with this condition. Explain your answer. III. Analysis of Treatment Technique Article a. Provide a minimum 1-paragraph description discussing treatment technique (intervention) and population studied. b. Discuss the methodology of the study. Include the type and description of the study (e.g. systematic review), the process for collecting data, and any limitations addressed by the authors. c. Discuss the results of the study and their clinical relevance for someone with this condition (e.g. Does this article answer your PIO question? Why or why not?; Would this treatment technique be appropriate for someone with your condition? Why or why not?; IV. References d. Reference page must be in APA format and include the textbook, article, and a minimum of 2 additional forms of credible information (e.g. books, governmental websites, etc.) The following documents should be attached to your final paper submission: 1. PIO Worksheet a. Complete a PIO worksheet based on the information you have gathered about your health condition. b. PIO worksheets must be complete and include a population, intervention, and outcome related to occupational therapy treatment. c. Formulate a well-developed PIO question to guide your search of evidence for treatment techniques utilized for someone with this condition. 2. Scholarly Article a. After completion of the PIO worksheet, students will use their library resources to search for an evidence-based, scholarly article discussing a treatment technique used to treat their condition. b. Students will read the article and use the information to complete their conditions and treatment paper. c. Students will attach a PDF copy of their article with their paper. d. Scholarly articles must: 1) Come from a peer-reviewed, scholarly journal. 2) Be published within the last 10 years. 3) Be a full-text article.
