Aim:
Explore how organisations can leverage Software Defined Object Storage platforms.
The research question is: How object based storage solutions can enable organisations towards their objectives and increase competitiveness in the companies?
Provide a critical review the current literature regarding the benefits, limitations, and challenges of software-defined storage, as well as the process of its application.
We live in the zettabyte era, people uploads their photos, videos all the time to social media. Companies create millions of files and perform their business over the Internet.
The Internet of Things (IoT) is more than a simple trend, smart devices that connects our home appliances, heating systems, cars etc. to “the cloud”.
Another consideration is that no one agrees to delete anything.
These are some of the challenges to explore:
– The huge volumes of data require massive effort during process.
– The information and data lifecycle.
– The effort required to manage all that data and the systems that hold that information due to complexity.
– The scalability of the storage systems.
– Data protection and privacy.
So, what is the central research question here? What are the results of the applied research to be used for?
What facts or information will you need to gather? How will you access these?

– What are the organisation business needs and requirements?
– How they aligned the Information Systems strategy to the company strategy?
– What are the results after implementing the object storage technology?

The information will be retrieved based on phone interviews with companies and practitioners in the field.

The study is applicable to business management using information systems. The findings will show how the use of object base storage solutions can enable a business to achieve its organisational objectives and promote its efficiency in performance and data handling.
