Please also find below the two articles to be read in preparation for next week:
-Kamoche, K. and A., Newenham-Kahindi. (2012) ‘HRM and knowledge appropriation: the MNC experience in Tanzania’. International Journal of Human Resource Management, 23: 2854-2873.
-Willman, Paul; Fenton-O’Creevy, Mark; Nicholson, Nigel and Soane, Emma (2006). Noise trading and the management of operational risk; firms, traders and irrationality in financial markets. Journal of Management Studies, 43(6), pp. 1357–1374.
Prepare answers to these questions ahead of the next lecture for in class discussion:
-How did the authors construct their arguments, research questions and reasons for their studies? Are they convincing in this? Why or why not?
-How and why did they select their subjects for interview? What are the benefits and limitations of this approach?
-Discuss the authors’ use of quotes from interview subjects in the article. How do these add to/detract from the study? What did you find particularly interesting about the interviewees’ responses?
