Students are requested to submit a 2000 word group report on the following topic:
“Exploring and Successfully Dealing with Cultural Differences”
The report should be outlining the cultural differences of two countries and suggest how to
master these. In so doing, it should be thoroughly grounded in the academic literature.
However, the report it is meant to be written in a style that allows the resulting document to be
distributed in your organisations.
Please include in your report at least two of the following countries: France and Nigeria
The FIRST part of the report should draw on:
1. the frameworks, techniques or approaches explored in this module (see especially – Hofstede & Globe research)
2. examples of current organisational approaches (General Electric
The SECOND part of the report should cover:
1. a critique of current approaches using theoretical frameworks / practical evidence
found in the literature
2. examples of good practice and generic recommendations.
The THIRD part of the report should outline for YOUR* organization:
1. the current practice of preparing individuals for global leadership positions in
the organisation** (assuming that these global leaders will have to successfully deal
with cultural differences). Even if there is no preparation of individuals, please explore
in a second step how global leadership is expressed in your organisation and where
the strengths and weaknesses are.
2. ideas, how the recommendations of the first two parts of the report could be
implemented in your organisation

** If your organization does not have global leaders, please choose an organization that you
are familiar with and that has global leaders.
