The purpose of this assignment is to assess the student’s critical thinking and problem solving skills in regards to evaluation planning. Thus, students need to compare and contrast the two most frequently used evaluation research designs with regard to their ability – based on design components – to control for 12 threats to internal validity. In addition to being able to name and define the individual threats, students have to provide a justification for the design’s ability to control or not control for the threat. In case the design does not control for the threat students have to provide alternative methods to minimize the threat and illustrate with an example. In addition threats to external validity need to be discussed and illustrated with an example.

(b) Nonequivalent Comparison Group;
(c) Time Series; and
(d) Randomized Pre-and Posttest with a Control Group (Classical Experimental Design).
