Elections and Officials: When do municipal elections occur, and how often do they occur? What was voter turnout in the last municipal election? How long do elected officials serve, and are there term limits in the municipality? Are officials elected at-large or in districts, how much are they paid, and how diverse are they? How does this impact their service to the municipality?

Each student will choose a different city or town (a municipality) within the United States to study for their semester project.  Students will select their preferred city or town on the appropriate discussion board topic early in the semester, or will be assigned a city or town to study.  Using a variety of scholarly and news resources, students will write and submit a paper of no fewer than 5 pages covering all of the topics below, at a minimum.
