Describe how your own
upbringing, culture and experience has influenced your current perception about
mental illness?
Writing about my own upbringing , I grew up in a
healthy family, but since my parents worked very busy, I have been living with
my grandparents over my whole childhood. In the cultural context of my own
country, most people tend to be externally controlled, [1] so people will live by the standards and
opinions of others. These have not had a significant impact on my growth. In my
knowledge, the cause of mental illness is unknown, so I personally prefer genetic factors. [2] Mental illness is widely classified. In addition
to the mental illness caused by the known organic disease, I think there is a
great connection with brain tissue, nerve and endocrine system. [3] On the other hand, mental illness must also be
inseparable from the living environment and social background. When I was in
China, I had a short-term study at a brain hospital. Psychiatric patients mostly have
intermittent and alternating morbidity and remission, and cannot know. The
patient’s condition development is closely related to the drug and dose.
However, due to the different living environments and different life
experiences, there are different degrees of impact on the onset of mental
illness. [4] I believe that companionship and long-term
treatment are the most important for the mentally illness
[5] .
