Individual student research papers are worth two hundred points. Students research papers must be eight to ten pages in length, have one-inch margins, be typed in 12-point Times New Roman font, be double-spaced, and be well written and edited in accordance to university standards for an upper-division course. Students shall research an enduring issue as it pertains to mass media and popular culture in American society. Students will be required to draw upon the reading materials, class lectures, and media literacy course material in formulating, interrogating, and applying concepts and theories towards their case studies. Students case studies should reflect an enduring and unresolved issue found within American mass media and popular cultural media texts. In other words, show me what you know. Furthermore, students case studies should include either the medium of film, cable, television, or the Internet and shall encompass a particular movie, an episode of a television or cable show, series of choice, or special broadcast. In addition, basic writing rubrics of mechanics, grammar, and syntax will be part of the grading process.

Research Integrity and For Future Consideration
Good research ethics requires researchers to be self-critical and intellectually honest. After your conclusionary paragraph, include at least one paragraph titled For Future Consideration. Therein, articulate any flaws with your research methods, analysis, reasoning, etc and indicate how your research paper could be improved upon.
