Assessment 3: Group Wiki Project & Individual Reflection

TASK: Wiki project (1,000 words per student)
In this task students will be required to create a website on Wix (http://wix.com), which demonstrates their developing skills in comparing how different historical, geographical and social locations foster different contemporary cultural perspectives.
Students will be required to select a topic covered in the unit (that is not their debate topic) and choose an aspect of that topic that interests them. They will then be required to create a website addressing that compares two different cultures, explaining each culture’s ideas, beliefs, and views of the world. Students should be using the key concepts and formal terms of the chosen topic. Consideration should also be given to how the design of the website will impact the readability of the information.
An example of how to create a Wix website will be provided to students on vUWS and shown in class. Supplementary materials explaining how to approach the assessment, and some basic website design principles, will also be made available on vUWS.
Students will be provided with time during class to work on this website with their groups.
There are three in-class checkpoints for this task. Checkpoints are opportunities for you to receive verbal feedback on your Wikis during class time. These checkpoints will occur in weeks 5, 7 and 9.

TASK: Individual Reflection (250 words)
This Individual Reflection should address the process of learning through the process of completing the Group Wiki assessment. Students should also reflect on the group work process. This Individual Reflection should be guided by the following questions:
 What did completing this assessment allow you to learn about your chosen topic?
 How did you delegate responsibilities in your group? Did everyone do their part?
 How effectively did your group work together?
 What skills did your group members have that you were able to learn from?
 What skills did you bring to the group? How do you think that you could develop these further in future?
Students are required to submit a Word version of both their completed Wiki entries and their Individual Reflection to Turnitin by 11:59pm Friday, Week 10. Failure to do so may result in a failure by non-submission (FNS) result for the unit.
